This one's just kind of nice. I played a great deal of this game, but never finished it.

Well, he gets the longest and most complicated song in the game. I once had this song stuck in my head and couldn't figure out what it was from.

    ULTIMA 6: THE FALSE PROPHET
    (Super NES)

Composer: Kazuo Sawa & David "Iolo" Watson

The SNES version of Ultima 6 uses a lot of soft piano tunes for its soundtrack. It might not be the most energetic music around, but of them are kind of nice.

    Size: 2.74 MB

    Comment:
Iolo the Bard plays this song on his lute. Anytime you use a lute in the game, you will hear this gentle serenade.

Pounding war drums dominate this crazy song. Not the best song in the game, but I like its desperate tone.

Very, very dark and scaring sounding song. With the use of organ, it's like a funeral dirge. Used for all caves and underground areas. Some of those areas are so huge and sprawling it's a wonder I ever got through them. (My friend Kiera once commented on the peculiar number of dead bodies spread all around them, too...)

Pretty little harpsichord & panpipe song from the Gargoyle's Island area of the game. It's actually a remix of "Rule Britannia" and reminds me slightly of the Electronical Parade music from Killer7.

Short, but nice. This will be heard whenever you try to use a harpsichord anywhere in the game. (Yeah, there are several just lying around here and there...)

The opening story theme, which is just kind of a pretty little ominous melody.

This one's weird. The only place this is used in the SNES version of the game is when you cast the spell to view the map. I've seen mention of it as the "Boot Screen Music", and I had no idea what that meant, until I realized that the PC versions of Ultima 6 must've had a startup menu and this must've been the music used for it.

The music for Lord British's castle, of course! You'll no doubt recognize it.

This is the house music and it also sometimes randomly plays on the overworld. It's apparently a very popular song from the Ultima series and has even had official lyrics put to it, although this version is instrumental.

The title theme and also sometimes randomly plays on the overworld. This is my favorite Ultima 6 song. Love how it builds and pans out. Also one of the few non-piano pieces.

    ULTIMATE FIGHTER
    (Super NES)

    Composer: Eiji Miyabi

Eiji Miyabi, aka Neon Kidd, has composed some really amazing NES soundtracks. His Super NES soundtracks, many of which use the same music as his NES scores, weren't quite as musically-successful due to the relatively poor sound samples he either chose to use or was given to work with. I can just imagine how much better these songs would sound if he had custom drivers. As part of the Hiryu No Ken series, Ultimate Fighter (aka Hiryu No Ken S: Golden Fighter) uses some of the same tunes that Flying Warriors for the NES did.

Not bad in some parts, but the instruments don't hold steady or together enough. Seems like they're all trying to take precedence. They lack the balance of the NES version.

The mini-boss music. An energetic piece that I'm almost willing to admit to being slightly better here than it was on the NES version. This game has a disturbing number of enemies that pop up out of the ground...and it's not even a zombie game! What's going on down there?

Another commonly-used Hiryu No Ken theme song, this has even made its way into the Ninja Boy/Bros games. This isn't the best rendition of it, unfortunately.

    UNINVITED
    (NES)

This game's soundtrack was only okay at best, and some parts were really annoying. A bit of a disappointment after Shadowgate, but here's the one song that I thought was good.

  • Main Theme
    Time: 2:04
    Size: 2.84 MB

    Comment:
The spooky main theme of Uninvited is very much in the spirit of Shadowgate.
