Tomi Forrester is the partner of Deuce Koma. They are mercenaries employed by an intergalatic organization of police, soldiers, and bounty hunters. They were assigned to track down the rogue General Ghestov Sal-Yun, whom Deuce has a personal interest in defeating. They were given orders to report on Ghestov's activities, but not to approach the planet his space fortress CRASHER was orbiting because it was considered a "condemned" world, due to the past wars and other disasters that ripped it apart. But Deuce's headstrong ways clouded her judgment, and their ship was detected by CRASHER and shot down. It landed on the planet near Chancey's palace in Nispatia. They survived the crash, but the ship was destroyed beyond repair. Because the planet is condemned, there is little hope of anyone coming to their rescue unless they can somehow contact HQ to let them know the planet is safe after all.
Although he looks like a little kid, Tomi is actually an adult. People from Deuce and Tomi's home planet aren't very tall when fully-grown. He is an expert in the use of all kinds of weaponry. He is quite a cynical character, whose penchant for vehemently arguing his point of view has gotten him in trouble on many occasions. Once assigend to an undercover mission in a school, he was kicked out for violently backtalking a teacher he disagreed with. He complains a lot and often looks like he hasn't slept in 8 years. He also eats constantly. And while he tends to have strong opinions, there are many times when he seems completely aloof to what's going on around him.
Tomi often relays hilarious arguments and anecdotes of his adventures to Deuce on their long voyages through space together. He is so convinced that he's always completely right about everything. Deuce thinks that Tomi needs to learn to keep his mouth shut and obey authority more often. But aside from that, they work extremely well together as partners. They're both good with weapons, both good pilots, and both good at repairing technological stuff, but Tomi seems to have more ability and knowledge in the weapons department, while Deuce is better with computers and repairs. Although they are loyal to each other and work closely together, they strangely don't seem to have any romantic tension. They are more like siblings with their relationship being strictly on a partner/partner level.
Tomi's original name was "Ace", so that he and his partner were named "Ace" and "Deuce", but I don't like naming schemes like that unless it makes sense, and I didn't think it made sense that a guy who's name was Ace just happened to be paired up with a girl whose name is Deuce, so I changed it to "Tomi". (I also just didn't like the name "Ace" for this character.) I also like the irony of "Tomi Forrester" being a Japanese first name with an English last name and "Deuce Koma" being an English first name with a Japanese last name more than the "Ace and Deuce" coincidence. (Although since they're from another planet, technically they can't be English or Japanese, but nevermind.) Tomi's design has gone through multiple changes. One of the running gags of the old Image Arcane comics is that Tomi would end up in a ridiculous costume in every episode, with each new one being more preposterous than the last (it got to the point where I had him dressed in oversized pajamas with a pair of boxer shorts on his head.) Some of his old color schemes were really nasty, so I've converted those images to black and white.
Tomi was also featured in quite a few R.A.U. sketches. Deuce sometimes showed film reels of embarrassing moments from his childhood and past missions.
