Everett's Room

Everett's room is full of various items that Arthur King and the Knights of Justice used on their quest to defeat Morgana and save the real King Arthur. Let's take a tour through this virtual museum to learn about these ancient relics and how Arthur acquired them.

Items are stored on your inventory screen. To use them, simply press Start, select the "bag" and then press "B". Highlight an item to use it and press "B" again. Pressing Start exits the item screen without using anything. In some cases where a character wants a particular item, you need only have it in your inventory then talk to the character to give it to him/her.

Healing Herb - One of the most important items in the game, these will restore your hit points. There is a simple trick for collecting 99 healing herbs at once. Find one and stand on it (there is one in Erek's cave and two really close together in Welton village.) Press Start, then go into your inventory screen, and exit. When you exit, the healing herb will regenerate and you'll automatically pick it up again. Keep entering and exiting your inventory screen until you have 99 (you get 3 herbs for each one picked up, so it won't take long.)
Shield Attack - You will need these orbs to power your shield attack. You can only use the shield attack if the knight you're currently using has found his magic shield. You have to get Arthur's shield to advance the game, and you will control him most of the time anyway, so you will need these to give him a nifty projectile attack. The best way to collect them is to go to the first screen of Shield Heights, get them all, then leave the screen and come back. They are very useful for defeating most bosses.
Magic Shield - There is one of these in the game for each knight. Usually they are sitting out in plain view, although you might have to work through a maze or find a secret passage to get to it. However, there are a few you get in an unusual way. Arthur's is gotten by killing the dragon on Shield Heights and when Tone fixes the Staff of Rhiothamus, it somehow turns into his shield. Unlike the Keys of Truth, anyone can collect the shield, not just the knight it belongs to. It will automatically go to the correct knight once picked up. This item allows the knight to use the shield attack, provided that you have some power orbs in your inventory. Some knights will gain unlimited shield attacks when they also acquire their Keys of Truth.
Pendragon Shield - This is Arthur's magic shield. It functions the same as the other Knights' magic shields except that his fires a little faster. You also need to get it so that the Lady of the Lake will trust you and allow you to use Excalibur. Find it by beating the dragon boss atop Shield Heights.
Key of Truth - Essentially, the game's "macguffin". There are twelve of these, one for each knight. Only the knight whom the key belongs to may touch it, so when you find one, you will have to bring that knight to it in order to collect it (unless he's already in your party.) Usually the keys are guarded by bosses, but occasionally you might obtain one a different way. They are needed to break the spell on the real King Arthur to release him from the Cave of Glass, and to return the displaced football team back to their real time period.
Eye of Newt - One of four items Merlin needs to create the Fire Protection Spell that gives you access to Shield Heights. This one is found on the same screen as the Lady of the Lake. Just walk all the way to the top and look near the trees. Later in the game, you'll need to give Eye of Newt to the Wizard Blaise. Find it on one of the log bridges in the Swamp of Zagar.
Hairball - Another of the four items Merlin needs to create the Fire Protection Spell. It is lying under a tree east of the Blacksmith's house and south of the entrance to Shield Heights. It can be a little hard to see, so look carefully. Later in the game, you'll need to give a Hairball to the Wizard Blaise. Look for it on a forest trail south of the Swamp of Zagar.
Monkshood - Merlin also needs this to make that fire spell. It is in the area northwest of Camelot Castle, under a tree near a poisonous flower. Evade the flower's poison pollen attack and snatch it.
Nightshade - The last of the four items Merlin needs for that Fire Protecton Spell. It is just east of the area that leads to the Lady of the Lake, under a tree (as usual). Later in the game, you'll need to give Nightshade to the Wizard Blaise. Look for it on a forest trail northeast of Welton Village.
Fire Protection - When you bring Merlin the Monkshood, Eye of Newt, Nightshade, and Hairball, he will concoct this potion that allows you to pass through the wall of flames that block the entrance to Shield Heights. Even if you have all four items, Merlin will not make the potion until you actually try to walk through the flames! Just make sure Arthur has full health before doing that. Merlin says the spell wears off after awhile so be sure to pass the flames quickly, but I've never seen it stop working. If it does, the items do reappear in the forest, so maybe you can try bringing them all to Merlin again.
Warlord Helmet - Go slightly northeast of the Blacksmith's house and press up into the trees until you find a secret glen. Defeat all the dark knights in there and collect this helmet. Return it to the Blacksmith as proof that you dispatched the Warlord patrol that keeps bothering him, and he'll give you the Book of Eld.
Book of Eld - You will get this from the Blacksmith after you dispatch the Warlord patrol north of his house and bring him the Warlord Helmet. Give the book to Erek of Tintagel in the cave to the west of Camelot Castle to gain access to Tintagel Castle. Return to Erek at any time and talk to him to view the book. It contains a cipher that decodes the correct path through Blinder's Way.
Firewood - You can find this sitting just outside a house south of the inn in Welton Village (the house with the bearskin rug inside.) You need to take it to the Blacksmith so he can make you some Warlord Armor.
Iron Scraps - Inside a house just south of where you got the Firewood are some Iron Scraps. Take those, along with the Firewood and the Barrel of Cider to the Blacksmith to get Warlord Armor.
Barrel of Cider - You can find this sitting just outside the inn in Welton Village. You will need to take it to the Blacksmith as payment for making you the Warlord Armor.
Warlord Armor - Armor that lets you disguise yourself as a Warlord so that the people of Welton Village, who are under one of Morgana's spells, will talk to you. Get it from the Blacksmith by bringing him Firewood, Iron Scraps, and a Barrel of Cider from Welton. Put it on and talk to the Gem Cutter to get the La Bijou du Porte gem.
Arthur's Armor - Technically, you always have this item, but it doesn't actually appear in your inventory until after you obtain the Warlord Armor. It lets you switch back to your normal armor. You MUST do this eventually because you cannot swing your sword, and thus cannot fight in Warlord Armor.
Goblet of Loyalty - The Goblet is one of three items needed to break the curse on Welton Village. Look in the woods north and east of the village. If you walk north along a row of trees, you'll find it underneath of one of them. It's just one screen west of the cliffs by the ocean.
Emerald of Reason - The Emerald is one of three items needed to break the curse on Welton Village. Look in the woods to the north and east of the village. It's under a tree on a path that leads downward to a Stonehenge (and eastward to the cliffs by the ocean.)
Ruby of Compassion - If you head all the way east from Welton Village, you'll eventually come to some cliffs by the ocean. The ruby is sitting on the promontory of the very southernmost cliff. Once you have the Ruby, the Emerald, and the Goblet, go to the church in Welton Village, stand at the front of the altar, and use all three items in your inventory. The curse will be lifted and the villagers will no longer act loyal to Morgana.
La Bijou du Porte - Put on Warlord Armor and talk to the Gem Cutter. He'll give you this item. Break the curse on Welton Village by placing the Ruby, Goblet, and Emerald on the church altar. Then take this gem to the Wise Woman in the upper left part of town. She will charge it with magical energy. When you find the secret door to Gruesome Keep, the gem will deactivate the gates that are keeping it locked and you'll gain entry into the fortress.
Sea Flowers - You can find these on the cliffs by the ocean. Take some to the Map Maker to get a map of Blinder's Way.
Map Scrap - Once you break the curse on Welton Village, find some Sea Flowers and talk to the Map Maker. He will give you this map that shows the entire area of Blinder's Way.
Scroll - After you break the curse on Welton Village, talk to the Wise Woman to receive this scroll. You will need it to get the Key of Truth from the Ivory Pedestal in the Gnome Woods, much later in the game.
Zug Horn Shaving - It looks like a traffic cone, but it's actually needed to save Squire Everett's life. Go to the middle of the Swamp of Zagar where you see a giant solitary tree with a face. Stand on the left side of the tree and the Zug will come charging at you. Sidestep the Zug so that it rams into the tree and a piece of its horn should fall off. If not, try again until it does.
Pitch Blend - Druas, the alchemist who lives in the Swamp of Zagar, tells you that he needs this item to finish his formula for turning lead into gold. Find it in a clearing south of the area where Castle Vilor's gate is located. Defeat the Rock Golems that are guarding it so that you can pick it up.
Fire Elemental Key - One of four keys needed to unlock Castle Vilor. In the area north of Castle Vilor's gate, you'll find a charred-out cliff with some Fire Elemental enemies. Kill them and grab the Fire Key from the ledge.
Earth Elemental Key - One of four keys needed to unlock Castle Vilor. In the area near Castle Vilor's gate, walk along one of the vertical trails until you see a small cul-de-sac near the trees on your right. Walk into that area and the Gnome King will pop out and ask you to find his missing son. Walk one screen north and keep going until you find the Warlord patrol that has his son held hostage. Defeat them, talk to the Gnome Prince, then return to where you met the king. He'll give you the Earth Key in return.
Water Elemental Key - One of four keys needed to unlock Castle Vilor. South of where you met the Gnome King, you'll find a clearing guarded by a bunch of Rock Golems. Defeat the Golems and pick up the Pitch Blend sitting on the ground. Give this item to Druas the Alchemist who can be found in the northwest area of the swamp. He will give you the Water Key in return.
Air Elemental Key - One of four keys needed to unlock Castle Vilor. In the forest area northeast of the Swamp of Zagar, look for a hidden path through some trees at the very top of the screen. You'll see a big shadow on the ground. Return to Blaise in the swamp and he'll turn you into birds one last time so you can get to the flying island (which is what's causing the shadow) to retrieve the Air Key.
Pixie Dust - One of three items needed to get the Mordraine's Crystal from the woman in Crownhorn Village. Find it one screen west of Crownhown Village, in the upper-lefthand corner, guarded by a huge swarm of fairies.
Saltmoss - One of three items needed to get the Mordraine's Crystal from the woman in Crownhorn Village. North of Crownhorn is a river with a broken bridge. Step onto the bridge and you'll fall in the river and be sucked into an underwater cave. Find the Saltmoss somewhere in those caves.
Mordraine Wood - One of three items needed to get the Mordraine's Crystal from the woman in Crownhorn Village. Find it two screens west and one screen south of Crownhown Village, on a ledge on the far left side of the screen. Do not walk too far south when going after this item or you'll be caught by a group of invincible warlords.
Mordraine's Crystal - Bring the Pixie Dust, Saltmoss, and Mordraine Wood to the lone woman living in Crownhorn Village, and she will combine them into this crystal. Use it on the screen with the giant boulder to destroy it. The warlords roaming the overworld will no longer be invincible, giving you access to the Cape of Death.
Piece of Staff - A piece of the broken Staff of Rhiothamus. There are six pieces in all. Merlin gives you one. You must travel to the forest near Hadrian's Wall to find the other five. Find one lying under a tree, one by beating an ogre inside a giant tree, one by giving a piece of bread to a hungry traveler, one in Blackroot Keep, and one in the Dark Citadel. When you have all six, and have beaten Warlord Viper, return to Camelot and put Tone in your party. As soon as you leave, he'll fix the staff, which blows a hole in Hadrian's Wall, opening up the way to the Dark Forest. The staff will also magically become Tone's Shield.
Bread - Find this loaf of bread lying on the forest floor, surrounded by birds and wasps. Give it to the hungry traveler to get a Piece of Staff. I find it absolutely hilarious that instead of getting a fresh piece of food for this poor guy, you find an old piece lying on the ground that's half-eaten by wild animals and give it to him. What a generous king Arthur is!
Ring of True Seeing - Find this in a small dungeon on the west coast of the Dark Forest. You will need it to be able to see the Doorkeeper who will let Arthur into the Plain of the Dead to save his lost friends.
Flower O'Innocent - There is a whole bunch of these growing in the graveyard of the Dark Forest. Some of the undead characters in the town want you to bring this flower to their physical forms on the Plain of the Dead. Do so, and they'll help you find your lost friends, although it's not a necessary step.
Cloak of Death - Get this from one of the villagers in the Town of the Dead by promising to bring a Flower O'Innocent to his physical form on the Plain of the Dead. You will need it so that the Doorkeeper will allow you into the Plain of the Dead.
Gold Coins - Get this from one of the villagers in the Town of the Dead by promising to bring a Flower O'Innocent to his physical form on the Plain of the Dead. You will need it so that the Doorkeeper will allow you into the Plain of the Dead.
Necklace - Find this lying on the floor in one of the rooms in the mansion in the Town of the Dead. Give it to Richard Black to get the Dragon Lord Gem, which his brother wants. Arthur is quite a shyster. First he gives a half-eaten piece of bread to a hungry traveler, and now he swindles a guy out of a gem with an object that obviously already belonged to his family.
Dragon Lord Gem - Give Richard Black the Necklace and he'll trade it for this rare white gem. Give the gem to Richard's brother and he'll relinquish the key you need to access the Baron's chamber.
Key - This key is needed to gain access to Baron William Black's chamber so that you can talk to him about finding a way to the Stone Gardens. Get it from one of his sons by giving him the Dragon Lord Gem.
