Pac-Man (Multiplatform)

Cross-Series (Galaxian): One of the bonus items is a Galaxian.
Status: TRUE: Verified by FO.

Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures (SNES)

Specific Reference: You can play the arcade versions of Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man in this game. (Credit: Ruudos)
Status: TRUE: Verified by FO.

Pac-Man World (PS1)

Cross-Series (Galaxian/Dig Dug): The Galaxian bonus item is also included in this game, and so is the "Pooka" character from Dig Dug.
Status: TRUE: Verified by FO.

Paladin's Quest (SNES)

Music (Carmina Burana): The background music that's used for the temples and the crystal labyrinth is quite similar to the third movement of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, "Veris leta facies". I'm not sure if the similarity was intentional, because the songs aren't exactly the same, but the similarity is so remarkable, I thought it was worth mentioning.
Status: Bizarre Coincidence?: See (Oddities 27) for comparison.

Panzer Dragoon Saga (Saturn)

Specific Reference: If you find the final secret form of the dragon, (which shouldn't be too hard, considering where you can go and what you can do is very limited in this game) it's exactly that of the dragon from the first Panzer Dragoon game. Same colors, patterns, and markings.
Status: TRUE: Verified by FO.

Movie (2001: A Space Odyssey): When the FMV scene shows the close-up of the tower, it's VERY reminiscent of the monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey, right down to the similar shape and color, and the sun shining behind it.
Status: TRUE: Verified by FO.

Movie (Aliens): This game also contains a scene of characters running down a hallway, being chased by a monster that's bouncing off the walls. At the end of the hallway is an elevator they run into, then close the door shut on the monster at the last possible moment. This seems like a rip-off of a similar scene in Aliens, which has gotten parodied in a lot of other things, too. Azel's hairdo kind of looks like an Alien head, too.
Status: TRUE: Verified by FO.

Programmers: There are quite a few items in this game that are named after people who worked on it. There are far too many for me to list right now, but the one most people would be familiar with is Stolarium, which is named after ex-Sega of America President, Bernie Stolar.
Status: TRUE: Verified by FO.

Paper Mario (N64)

Specific Reference (Yoshi's Cookie): The "Big Cookie" that can be made by Tayce T. has a picture of two cookies from the puzzle game Yoshi's Cookie. (Credit: Bomberguy221)
Status: Unverified

Specific Reference (Luigi's Mansion): There's a Luigi's Mansion (Gamecube) reference in Paper Mario in Luigi's Journal. This was before Luigi's Mansion came out. (Credit: JG Shady)
Status: Unverified: Luigi's Mansion was probably in the planning stages at the time.

TV Shows (TMNT): The Koopa Brothers look like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. (Credit: Deven711)
Status: TRUE: Too many similarities to be coincidence. See (Oddities 28) for picture comparison.

Parasite Eve (PS1)

Cross-Series (Final Fantasy): From the helicopter viewpoint when selecting what area to go to, there is a banner of a Chocobo (also named) hanging over the museum's front door. Oddly enough, when you go to the close up screen to enter the building, that gigantic banner is nowhere to be seen. (Credit: jup)

Status: Unverified

Products (Coca-Cola): You can find Coca-Cola ads and cans all over the place. (Credit: ShadOtterdan)

I still think the girl is most likely Pauline, but I'll leave this picture up for comparisons, too.
    Status: TRUE: Verified by FO.

Programmers: The playing cards on the pinball table all have the letter "N" on them. Perhaps this is a reference to the fact that Nintendo used to manufacture playing cards? (Credit: SlyDante)

Status: TRUE: Verified by FO and Facilitypro. Note: I actually knew about this one for a long time. The reason I never added it to the database is because I wasn't sure of the exact name of the song or where it was from. I knew it was used in Gillette commercials, but I wasn't sure if they made it up or got it from somewhere else.

Movie (Rocky): When Little Mac gets too beat up, he clearly looks like Rocky at the end of the first movie, especially with the way his eye is swollen over. (Credit: Sedgewick)

    Status: TRUE: Verified by FO.

Music (Sakura): Piston Honda's theme is a traditional Japanese song called "Sakura". (Credit: SethraShnoo)
    Status: TRUE: Verified by FO.

Puss n Boots: Pero's Great Adventure (NES)

Literature (Around the World in 80 Days): The Puss N Boots game is based on a Japanese anime produced by Toei Animation sometime in the 70s, and it, in turn, is based loosely on the Jules Verne book "Around The World In 80 Days". The US game's plot is changed, however. In the US game, Pero once worked in Count Gruemont's castle. However, one day Count Gruemont found a mouse in his castle, and being the mouse hater he is, he sent Pero to kill it. Pero let the mouse go outside the castle, and Gruemont got so angry he sent Pero back in time, so he is trying to reach Gruemont's time ship at the Statue of Liberty. (Credit: Mike Waters)
Status: TRUE: See (Oddities 6) for more information on this. There was also an episode of Captain N: The Game Master based on Puss n Boots, which I have (reviewed) in the Cartoons section. Also, the American subtitle of the game is "Pero's Great Adventure", but in the Japanese version, it was "Around the World in 80 Days". Finally, Pero's name in the Japanese version is "Perrault". He was named after Charles Perrault, the author of "Puss in Boots".

    Pyramid (NES)

Music (Unknown): The main theme song of Pyramid is a common "Egyptian"-sounding tune that's been used in countless cartoons, TV shows, movies, etc. I have no idea what it's called, but it should sound very familiar to you.
    Status: TRUE: (Midi) proves it.
